The state government has revoked the suspension of former deputy superintendent of Arthur Road Jail, P A Pathrikar, who was arrested on bribery charges in 2014. The ACB had arrested Pathrikar along with the then jail superintendent, Vasudeo Digambar Burkule, for allegedly demanding bribe from a junior prison officer to help him clear a promotion-linked exam.

A case filed against the two by the ACB is still pending in court. A departmental inquiry was also instituted against Pathrikar who had subsequently moved the Maharashtra Administrative Tribunal. The tribunal ordered in favour of his reinstatement. “…Pathrikar is being reinstated in service,” an order from the home department said. He has been asked to take charge at Daulatrao Jadhav Jail Officers Training College, Pune.
