Cancelled BEST bus services restored

As many as 50 of the 52 buses scrapped by BEST last week were restored on Wednesday, confirmed Jagdish Patil, General Manger, BEST.

Patil said, “The cancellation of buses was a management decision, taken after speaking to the approved union of the BEST team two months back. However, public demand for these buses made us restore services for commuters.” Calling the decision a well-thought one for commuters, Mohan Mithbavkar, BEST chairperson, said, “The decision of cancelling the buses, followed by restoration of bus services, was administrative and not a political one. The management of BEST had taken significant approvals of concerned authorities while taking these decisions.”

Earlier on Monday, Shiv Sena corporators approached Jagdish Patil to revoke cancellation of bus services following which Patil passed instructions to do so. The two bus services that remain will be restored soon, confirmed BEST.
